Harvest
Producer: Kaffa Cooperative, Ethiopia
Price Paid: £3.20 per kg (145% of Fair Trade minimum)
Story: The Kaffa Cooperative consists of 450 smallholder farmers in the Yirgacheffe region. This harvest season, they implemented new shade-growing techniques that improved both yield and quality. The cooperative uses the premium we pay to fund educational programs for farmers' children and invest in sustainable farming equipment.

Processing Facility: Kaffa Cooperative Processing Center
Method: Washed process with natural water recycling system
Story: The cooperative recently installed a water recycling system that reduces water usage by 70%. This investment was made possible through our long-term partnership and the premium prices we pay. The processing center now serves as a model for other cooperatives in the region.

Milling & Quality Control
Milling Facility: Addis Ababa Export Center

Story: Our quality control team works directly with the milling facility to ensure only the highest quality beans make it through. Each batch undergoes rigorous cupping tests before export approval. This partnership has helped improve the overall quality standards of Ethiopian coffee exports.

Shipment
Shipping Method: Sea freight (carbon offset)
Transit Time: 6 weeks
Story: We offset 100% of our shipping emissions through verified carbon offset programs. Our beans travel in temperature-controlled containers to preserve quality. We've partnered with shipping companies that share our commitment to environmental responsibility.

Roasting
Roastery: Our facility in Finland
Roast Profile: Light roast (City+) to preserve origin characteristics
Story: Our master roaster has developed a specific profile for this Ethiopian Yirgacheffe that highlights its delicate floral notes. The roasting process uses renewable energy, and all waste coffee chaff is composted locally. Each batch is cupped multiple times during roasting to ensure consistency.
